What are some good linking campaign ideas?

You always hear about getting links to your website, and most often the advice takes the form of “article submission” or “directory submission” or “trading links.” All fine and good, but trading links has its problems, there are only so many strong directories, and article submission takes time and effort.

But most of all, you should always, always mix up your linking strategy. I can’t tell you how many sites I see that have hundreds of articles in ezinearticles.com, with the hundreds of corresponding links, and yet, no search engine ranking at all for their main search terms. Perhaps Google ranks based on where your links are coming from? Maybe subtracting points of all your links are from one source? Who knows.

Regardless, it’s wise to mix up your linking strategy a little. Here’s a great list that should get the ol’ brain sparking:
